Forerunner (also known as Mini-RF or MiniSAR) is an instrument that flies on the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chandrayaan-1 lunar orbiting spacecraft. It is capable of active SAR and scatterometer imaging. High resolution SAR images of the lunar polar regions will be obtained. The search for water ice, particularly in the polar regions of the Moon is its primary science mission, but it will also characterize the surface roughness and thickness of the regolith. The instrument will gather data during dedicated observing opportunities.

Note:
The Packetized Data Records (PDR) that are associated with the PDS3 Data Set ID (CH1-ORB-L-MRFFR-1-PDR-V1.0) were not migrated to PDS4. They are telemetry data in a format that could not be converted to a PDS4-compliant format. Given that PDR data share the same Data Set ID as the housekeeping data in PDS3, they have been cross-referenced in the product details page of the housekeeping data in PDS4. Additionally, a direct download link for the PDR data has been provided.
