MESSENGER MDIS Narrow Angle Camera (MDIS-NAC)

ODE:Mercury, Venus

Mission:MESSENGER

Instrument: MESSENGER MDIS

PDS Geosciences Node: PDS Source Information

The MESSENGER Mercury Dual Imaging System (MDIS) instrument consists of two cameras, a multispectral Wide Angle Camera (WAC) and a monochrome Narrow Angle Camera (NAC), mounted on a common pivot platform. MDIS data will be used to construct a global image base map, a digital terrain model, global maps of color properties, and mosaics of high-resolution image strips.

The MDIS data sets are archived at the PDS Imaging Node. In addition to ODE, you may also search MDIS images through the PDS Cartography and Imaging Sciences Discipline Node's various search tools. The ODE website complements the PDS Cartography and Imaging Sciences Discipline Node's Atlas website by providing cross mission and instrument searches for imaging and non-imaging data products.

ACT-REACT QuickMap allows users to explore images and data from MESSENGER's orbital mission. Once data are publically available at the PDS, the images are also available to be explored here in QuickMap. An online tutorial for using ACT-REACT QuickMap is available at https://messenger-act.actgate.com/msgr_public_released/act_docs/qmap.pdf .
