For more information about MAG DATA products, see the Lunar Prospector Magnetometer Lunar Coordinates Data Description.

The Lunar Prospector Magnetometer (LP-MAG) NASA Level 1B Data (DATA) data products are time-ordered series of magnetic vector measurements. Each record consists of a time tag followed by six scalar values representing the magnetic field vector, measured in nanoteslas (nT), in two different coordinate systems: selenocentric solar ecliptic (SSE) and body-fixed selenographic (SEL), followed by the rms deviation of the field magnitude, which is independent of the coordinate system. The spacecraft position is given in both of the above coordinate systems. These data are obtained continuously at 9 Hz and are averaged in 5-second intervals for this data archive.

MAG DATA products have the following file names:

MAyymmdd.TAB (with detached PDS label)

where:

yy = 2-digit year of data collection

mm = 2-digit month of data collection

dd = 2-digit day of data collection

In ODE, DATA products have the following product IDs:

MAYYMMDD
