For more information about RDRS ARCDR products, see the ARCDR Product SIS and Magellan ARCDR User's Guide for the PDS4 Dataset.
The Radar System (RDRS) Altimeter and Radiometry Composite Data Records (ARCDRs) contain three different data files for a given Magellan orbit: Orbit header records (OHF), Altimetry data (ADF), and Radiometry data (RDF). The OHF file contains a single binary record that describes the corresponding ADF and RDF belonging to the orbit. The ADF file contains binary records describing each altimeter footprint measured during the orbit and the RDF file contains binary records describing each radiometer footprint measured during the orbit. Not all orbits have all three ARCDR files. Only orbits with an ADF file contain location information and can be map-searched by lat-lon location or feature.
Note: The original PDS3 dataset has four types of data files for each orbit. The PDS4 new archive has migrated three of these file types (ADF, RDF, and OHF). The fourth type (EPF) is a copy of spacecraft ephemeris data, which is already available from the PDS NAIF node. The EPF is not included in the migrated-PDS4 bundle.
RDRS ARCDR product subdirectories have the following directory names:
nnnn_mmmm
where:
nnnn = 4-digit decimal number denoting the first orbit in the subdirectory
mmmm = 4-digit decimal number denoting the last orbit in the subdirectory
RDRS ARCDR files have the following file names:
xxx0nnnn_v (with detached PDS label)
where:
xxx = product type (ADF or RDF)
nnnn = 4-digit orbit number
v = 1-digit version number
In ODE, ADF/ RDF products, have the following product IDs:
adf0nnnn_v
rdf0nnnn_v
