The Gamma Ray Spectrometer Intermediate Data Record (GRSIDR) Averaged Neutron Data (AND) data products are tables of neutron data from the Neutron Spectrometer (NS) sub-system of the GRS that have been averaged over 5-degree latitude by 5-degree longitude spatial grids and 15 degrees of aerocentric solar longitude (Ls). These data are calculated from the derived neutron data (DND) and result in maps of thermal, epithermal, and fast neutron counting rates.

The AND is intended to be the second intermediate data product available for the NS portion of the GRS data. This data should be useful to those scientists who are experienced in neutron spectroscopy.

The AND data have been completely reprocessed in Version 2.0. See mons2_pds_final.pdf in the DOCUMENT directory of the archive. New processing algorithms have allowed inclusion of many observations that were previously rejected, and improved data fitting methods provide a significant improvement in data quality and a reduction in noise. The updated data products allow researchers to more accurately detect and measure the amount of water ice, carbon dioxide ice, and hydrated minerals in the first half meter below the surface of Mars.

GRS AND products have the following file names:

AND_yy_nnn_mmm.DAT (with detached PDS label)

where:

yy = Mars Odyssey mapping year field (2 digits)

nnn = starting solar longitude (3 digits)

mmm = ending solar longitude (3 digits)

In ODE, AND products have the following Product IDs:

AND_YY_NNN_MMM
