PROFIL – Profile Data

Instrument: Odyssey Gamma Ray Spectrometer

PDS Data Set ID: ODY-M-GRS-2-EDR-V1.0 DOI: 10.17189/1519560

For more information about GRS EDR products, see the Data Set Catalog File.

The Gamma Ray Spectrometer Experiment Data Record (GRSEDR) Profile Data (PROFIL) are an array of the raw gamma events continuously binned at high time resolution and limited energy resolution. The array length, settable up to 2048 elements, covers the duration of the current pixel. Each element contains four scalars which represent the counts above the Lower Level Discriminator (LLD), between LLD and L1, between L1 and L2, and between L2 and L3. The parameters LLD, L1, L2, and L3 are all settable parameters.

These data are sent from the central electronics box (CEB) when a gamma-ray burst is detected. At the time of detection the current pixel’s profile data along with the additional pixel sets are packaged for downlink. The total number of additional sets is a settable parameter is currently set to 2.

GRS PROFIL products have the following file names:

PROFILE_DATA_yyyymmdd.DAT (with detached PDS label)

where:

yyyy = year

mm = month (01-12)

dd = day (01-31)

In ODE, PROFIL products have the following Product IDs:

PROFILE_DATA_YYYYMMDD
